St Elisabeth`s Church is all about `Radical Hospitality.`

Our ethos is that everyone is welcome all the time.

We run a number of outreach projects including The SHE Project and The Epiphany Project as well as a regular cafe on a Tuesday where people can access Eastbourne Foodbank and get careers advice from People Matter.

Community Tuesdays 10am-12pm

with Eastbourne Foodbank, People Matter and Cafe Elisa

“The foodbank was there when we really needed it, it was an absolute lifeline.”

Eastbourne Foodbank don’t think anyone in our community should have to face going hungry. That’s why they provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. We are the closest foodbank outlet for people located in `Old Town` around Ocklynge School. Our opening time here is on a Tuesday, but other foodbank locations operate on other days.

The People Matter Charitable Trust was set up by local Christians in 1997 to provide quality information, advice and guidance and practical help to jobseekers in Eastbourne and surrounding areas.  They exist so that people have an opportunity to find or retain meaningful and satisfying work through personal support, practical help, information, advice, guidance and encouragement. They offer CV writing, advice and guidance, job searches and one to one support.

St Elisabeth`s has a real heart for mission and outreach. To that end we support a number of charities including Esuubi, Mission Aviation Fellowship, CMS, Through Faith Missions and  Diocesan Family Support Network.

We partner with four local charities who use our facilities for drop-ins, creative spaces and meetings. They are Eastbourne Foodbank, People Matter, Delta 7 and Compass Community Arts. Compass Arts offer support for people with denentia and their carers. Through theraputic art help can be offered to people facing differing mental health issues such as depression. For further details please see Compass` webpage.

Hospitality plays a big part of Jesus` story and we think it is important to offer our church as a safe, fun and social place for the local community to meet.
